Sassafrass
Creek Farm (Paulk Family Farm, LLC) is
owned and operated by David and Jennifer
Paulk and located in Park Hall, MD. The
farm was formed in April 2011 and is
certified USDA Organic. The Paulks grow
70 varieties of vegetables -
specializing in heirloom tomatoes,
garlic, and year-round head lettuce.
Collectively the Paulks have 12 years
experience growing vegetables,
complimented by Jennifer’s certification
as a University of Maryland Extension
Master Gardener. David is retired from
the U.S. Navy and works full-time on the
farm. Jennifer, a Navy employee, works
part-time on the farm helping with
harvesting and selling at the local
farmers’ market from April to November.
To meet
increased demand, a second farm property
was purchased near Leonardtown, MD.
Garlic, potatoes, and onions are
currently grown at the new property,
along with many acres of cover crops to
improve the soil—a fundamental principle
in organic, sustainable farming. USDA
Organic certification for the
Leonardtown farm is expected by summer
of 2013.
David
and Jennifer Paulk of Sassafras Creek
Farm are very proud to provide organic,
sustainably grown, fresh, healthy food
to the local community. They sell their
produce at The Good Earth Natural Foods
Store in Leonardtown, MD and on
Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm at the
